How to Set Up Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) in RevControl?
Secure your RevControl account with 2FA. By default, you’ll receive a code via email, but for better security and convenience, we recommend adding an authenticator app.
What is Two-Factor Authentication?
Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your RevControl account. After entering your password, you’ll need to complete a second verification step via email or an authenticator app.
Setting up 2FA as a user
Enabling 2FA via the dashboard
If 2FA is not yet active for your account, you’ll see a message on the dashboard after logging in prompting you to enable 2FA.
-
Click the “Enable Two-Factor Authentication” button
-
Email verification will be set as the default second step
-
You’ll receive a 6-digit code via email each time you log in
Enabling 2FA via your profile
Users can also enable 2FA manually via their profile:
-
Click your hotel name in the top right corner > “Profile”
-
Enable 2FA
-
Choose and manage your preferred method (email or authenticator app)
Adding an authenticator app (recommended)
We recommend using an authenticator app (such as Microsoft Authenticator, Google Authenticator, or 1Password):
-
Go to your profile (click your hotel name in the top right > Profile)
-
Enable 2FA and click “Manage Authentication Method”. In the pop-up that appears, select “Add Authenticator App”
-
Enter the 6-digit code shown in the app
Once this is set up, the app will be used instead of email for 2FA.
Enforcing 2FA for all users (admins only)
As an admin, you can enforce 2FA for all users:
-
Go to Settings > Configuration > System Settings > General
-
Enable the toggle next to “Enable Two-Factor Authentication for all users”
Note: When this is enabled, users can no longer disable 2FA individually.
Managing your 2FA settings
After enabling 2FA, you can manage your authentication methods via your profile. You can also add or change methods there.
