Maximum rates
Maximum rates define the highest price that can be published in RevControl. They apply per weekday, support periods and sub-periods, and always act as a hard upper limit regardless of demand, forecast, or other pricing rules.
With maximum rates in RevControl, you set an upper limit for your prices. This prevents rates from exceeding a defined ceiling, regardless of other pricing rules or recommendations.
Maximum rates work together with minimum rates, occupancy supplements, and other rules to define the framework within which RevControl generates price recommendations.
What are maximum rates used for?
Maximum rates are used to:
- prevent prices from increasing too much during high occupancy
- maintain control over your pricing strategy
- define exceptions for specific periods (for example events or seasons)
Even if the recommended rate exceeds the configured maximum rate, AutoPublish will never publish a rate above this limit. If you manually try to enter a higher rate, RevControl will show a warning.
Where can you find the maximum rates?
Maximum rates are disabled by default in RevControl. If you do not have access to maximum rates, please contact the Customer Success team.
You can manage maximum rates via:
Settings → Rates → Maximum Rates
On this page you will find:
- the default maximum rates
- maximum rates per period
- a calendar to navigate between months
- an overview of all periods within the selected month
Default maximum rates
At the top of the page, you define the default maximum rates.
These apply:
- to all dates without an active period
- as a fallback when a period does not have its own maximum rate
You can set a maximum rate per weekday.
Working with periods
Maximum rates use the same period structure as other settings in RevControl:
- Default
Applies when no period is active. - Period
Overrides the default for dates within that period. - Sub-period
Always overrides the parent period it falls within.
👉 The most specific period always has priority.
Showing inactive periods
By default, inactive periods are hidden.
You can make them visible by:
- enabling the Show inactive filter in the top right, or
- clicking an inactive period in the period overview on the right
On the right-hand side, you always see all periods that fall within the selected month.
The search field searches across all periods, even outside the selected month.
You can use the calendar to easily navigate to another month.
Entering values per period
For each period, you can define a maximum rate per weekday.
Available actions per period include:
- Override default Maximum Rates
Enables custom values for the selected period. - Copy the values from the default period
Copies the default maximum rates into the period. - Restore the original values for this period
Resets the period to its original configuration.
What happens if a field is empty?
If a field is empty, no maximum rate applies for that weekday in the period.
If you want the values from the parent or default period to apply, disable the maximum rate overrides for that (sub-)period.
Important notes
- Maximum rates are fixed amounts in the hotel’s own currency
- They always act as a hard upper limit
- They apply regardless of occupancy, forecast, competitor pricing, or event supplements
- They fully support periods and sub-periods
Summary
- Maximum rates define the highest allowed price
- Default maximum rates apply when no period is active
- Periods and sub-periods can override the default
- The most specific period always has priority
- Inactive periods can be shown if needed
- Empty fields mean no maximum rate applies
With maximum rates, you retain full control over your pricing strategy without losing flexibility.
