Events

This article explains how to add, edit, copy, and delete events in RevControl. It covers how to set supplements and MinLOS and how to import or export events to Excel.

In RevControl, events can be added to highlight periods of expected unusual demand. This could involve school holidays, public holidays, or specific events like concerts, exhibitions, or sports competitions. You can also mark periods of lower demand to adjust your pricing strategy accordingly.

When you add an event, it will appear in the dashboard, the Business on the Books report, the Rate Calendar, and other relevant sections within RevControl. It’s recommended to input events from one year in the past to at least one year ahead, allowing for comparisons and a better understanding of demand trends.

How to Add an Event?

  • Show: This switch allows you to make an event visible or invisible. Invisible events are not included in pricing recommendations.
  • Event: Enter the name of the event.
  • Start & End Date: Provide the start and end date of the event.
  • Importance: Assign an impact level to the event. The impact determines the event’s color in the system:
    • Low: Green
    • Medium: Orange
    • High: Red
  • Supplement Percentage & Supplement: Optionally, add a supplement to the event. This can be a percentage or a fixed amount, either positive or negative. The supplement can increase or decrease prices during the event period.
  • Supplement For: Choose whether the supplement should be applied to the occupancy-based rate, the competitor-based rate, or both.
  • MinLOS: Set a minimum length of stay (MinLOS) for the event period.
  • Hotels: In the multi-property version of RevControl, you can select the hotel or hotels to which the event applies.
  • Note: Add an optional note for additional context or details about the event.

Tip: Use impact levels (Low, Medium, High) to categorize your events. For example, use green (Low) for school holidays, orange (Medium) for public holidays, and red (High) for major events like concerts or sports competitions. This helps to keep an organized overview of your event calendar.
