Release notes version 5.13

Version 5.13 introduces support for Two-Factor Authentication (2FA), allowing you to add an extra layer of security to your RevControl account.

5.13.0 – 10 June 2025

New

  • General – Added support for Two-Factor Authentication
Users can now secure their account with a second verification step via email or an authenticator app.

How to set up Two-Factor Authentication

As a user: If 2FA is not yet active for your account, you’ll see a notification on the dashboard after logging in prompting you to enable 2FA.

  1. Click the “Enable Two-Factor Authentication” button.

  2. Email verification will be enabled by default: you'll receive a 6-digit code by email at each login attempt.

You can also enable 2FA manually via your profile:

  • Click your hotel name in the top right > "Profile"

  • Enable 2FA

  • Manage your preferred method (email or authenticator app)

Adding an authenticator app (recommended): We recommend using an authenticator app like Microsoft Authenticator, Google Authenticator, or 1Password:

  1. Go to your profile (top right > "Profile")

  2. Enable 2FA (if this isn't active yet) and click "Manage Authentication Method"

  3. Select "Add Authenticator App" in the pop-up

  4. Scan the QR code using your authenticator app

  5. Enter the 6-digit code shown in the app

Once this is configured, the app will be used instead of email for 2FA.

As an administrator: Administrators can enforce 2FA for all users in the installation:

  • Go to Settings > Configuration > System Settings > General

  • Enable the switch next to "Enable Two-Factor Authentication for all users"

Note: when this setting is active, individual users will no longer be able to disable 2FA.

Managing your 2FA settings: Once enabled, users can manage their authentication methods via their profile. This includes editing or adding methods as needed.
