This article explains why strange numbers may appear in the Pickup Alert report of RevControl, including negative pickup due to no-shows and revenue differences due to other bookings.
The Pickup Alert report and the Business on the Books report show the difference in overnight stays and revenue between two specific times: midnight yesterday and midnight today (or another selected date range). We do not analyze individual reservations but the total change in occupancy and revenue during that period. This includes both new bookings and cancellations.
The report considers the current status of reservations. If a reservation has not checked in by midnight, it is considered a no-show and recorded as negative pickup (a cancellation). If the guest checks in later, the report in RevControl will correct itself. This can lead to discrepancies between the numbers in the Pickup Alert report and the emails you received.
Note: Revenue can also be affected by other bookings, such as meeting rooms or banqueting, which are not directly linked to that day’s reservations.
For Pickup ADR (Average Daily Rate) or ABR (Average Bed Rate), we divide the change in lodging revenue (Room Rev or Bed Rev) by the change in overnight stays (RN or BN). This may differ from the average price of daily reservations due to manual corrections or cancelling more expensive or cheaper reservations.
